EUGENE GRANT HIBBS

Eugene Grant Hibbs, eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Hibbs was born near De Soto, Iowa, July 23, 1916.

The following March he moved with his parents to the farm east of Earlham which has been the family home ever since. In this home he grew into a fine young manhood always deferential and considerate of others especially his two grandmothers, one an invalid. However, his interest included everyone whether young children, pals, or the aged.

He has been a constant attendant in the Friends Sunday School since Cradle Roll days. As he grew older he was active in church work.

His school life was a happy and full one. Besides his studies he took a very active part in the music and athletic departments. He finished High School with the class of 1934. Since that time he has been working on the farm with his father, planning to go to Fort Collins, Colo., this fall to attend Colorado State College.

Of the immediate family beside his parents there is his sister, Mary, fourteen years of age and his brother Robert only sixteen months his junior who has been his almost constant companion all through the years.

The community loses in this tragedy one of the finest young men it has ever produced, a most unusually clean minded and upright character.

Interment was made in the Earlham cemetery beside his infant brother who was born and died July 7, 1919.
