GEORGE HAYWOOD Died Last Friday

George A. Haywood, whose years of service as wood bridge foreman for Madison county had made him one of the most widely known citizens of this county, died at his home in Winterset last Friday, Nov. 7, 1947, of a heart attack.

His death ended 36 years of service to Madison county. He had been wood bridge foreman for many years. He also served three terms on the Winterset city council.

Mr. Haywood was a life-long resident of Winterset. He was born here Aug. 19, 1882, the son of John and Olive Haywood. He was married April 1, 1908, to Grace B. Grimes. They were the parents of two children.

His church membership was with the First Methodist of Winterset.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Marsh, and a son Charles Haywood, both of Fremont, Nebr.; and a sister, Mrs. Glenn Pitts of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. G. L. Hufstader, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
