EARLHAM MAN 66, CALLED BY DEATH

Walter Schleiffarth Passed Away Thursday; Funeral Services Held at Belmond

Walter Schleiffarth, 66 a resident of this community since February, passed away at seven-thirty last Thursday evening at his home in west Earlham. He had been in ailing health for several months, and seriously ill with heart trouble since Memorial Day, though not confined to his bed constantly.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Belmond, Iowa, and burial was at that place.

Prior to moving into Belmond in 1931, Mr. Schleiffarth had lived 62 years on the same farm. He was married in 1897, taking as his bride a girl who had lived her entire life on a farm located less than 80 rods away on the same section of land. Mr. and Mrs. Schleiffarth moved to Earlham in February, but finding that he was physically unable to farm, moved two months later to the Ralston property.

Mr. Schleiffarth is survived by his widow and four children, Arthur, Alva, Madge and Walter. One son, Paul, preceded him in death.
