PHYLLIS SOPPELAND, MISSOURI

Phyllis Jean Soppeland, 84, died Oct. 26, 2007, at Cuba Manor in Cuba, Mo.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m . Thursday, Nov. 1, at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba with Pastor Jeff Schanbacher officiating.

Phyllis Soppeland was born May 21, 1923, in Winterset to C. Thornton and Iva (Hamilton) Duff. Her marriage to William E. Soppeland took place March 15, 1953, in Elsworth. For several years, she was active in the PTA, Pythian Sisters and Church Council.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Gene D. Soppeland.

She is survived by one son, Myron “Myke” Soppeland of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Beth Peter of Peabody, Kan.; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Anatomy Research & Development Fund in Iowa City.
