Rites Held for Mrs. Breiholz

Funeral services for Mrs. E. A. Breiholz of rural Van Meter were held September 30 from Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson township.

Mrs. Breiholz died at her home, the church parsonage, on September 28 at the age of 66.

Barbara Amelia Breiholz, daughter of John and Eva Hoesch Bauer, was born in Oskaloosa on January 17, 1908.

She was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran Church and was confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church, Wellman, Iowa.

At the age of four she moved with her parents to Wellman, where she attended elementary and high school. She received her normal training in Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and subsequently taught school for two years near Wellman.

Later she took nurse's training in Denver, Colorado.

On August 18, 1947, she was married to Rev. Edwin A. Breiholz in Iowa City.

She and Pastor Breiholz lived in Davenport from 1947 to 1950. From 1950 to 1958 they lived in Keokuk where their son was born and from 1958 to 1962 in Indianola. In 1962 the family moved to the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church, four miles south of Van Meter, her home until her death.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Trinity Ladies Aid, the Trinity Lutheran Fellowship Club, and the Sharing Our Savior Club. She was also a member of the Women's Guild of Trinity Lutheran Chapel in Adel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Yoder of Merritt Island, Florida, and by a brother who died in infancy.

She is survived by her husband and son; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Goodwin and Mrs. Eva Bauer, both of Washington, Iowa and Mrs. Sabena Winegarden of Loveland, Colorado; and two brothers, Ben of Center Point, Iowa and Carl of Loveland, Colorado.

Officiating at the funeral service were the Rev. Norman Luecht of Dexter, and the Rev. Dale H. Knuteson, Lutheran Institutional chaplain of Des Moines. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery.
