Died. Sunday evening, Oct. 13th, at a hospital in Ames, Lawrence Edwards Neff, who had been in the Students Army Training Camp for the past two weeks. His mother was with him the last three days he lived and was permitted to alleviate his sufferings to a great extent. Mr. Neff was also with him after Saturday morning. They were greatly favored by the doctors and officers at the camp. Mr. and Mrs. Neff returned Monday, the body of their son arriving the next day.
Scripture reading and prayer by Mr. Lescault at the residence followed by the regular funeral service at the cemetery, also by Rev. Lescault on Wednesday afternoon. On account of the quarantine it was thought best not to hold the service in the church.
Lawrence Neff was 19 years old, a young man of sterling worth. He was converted when 12 years old, when he joined the Friends church, to which he has been loyal and true. Flowers from the Sunday school class and C. F. of which he was a member, as well as those from many other sources, attested the high esteem in which he was held. A beautiful wreath and a large flag from his company with the words "To a comrade who has given his all." His father, mother and two brothers, as well as the other relatives, have the sincere sympathy of the community who will also miss the bright cheery boy they had grown to love.
Coordinator note: Obituary published as printed. First name is spelled Laurence on Madison County Birth Register and on gravestone.
