After living in Madison county for the greater part of his life, J. H. Oller died on Sunday, Oct. 13, 1918, at his home in Winterset.
Diabetes had been his ailment during many months preceding his death at the age of 65 years. A lifetime spent in on locality measures a mans character in the eyes of his neighbors and Mr. Oller's life gave to him the respect of his friends.
He is survived by Mrs. Sarah Oller, eight children and 21 grandchildren. One son, Pvt Lee Oller, who is in Camp Pike, is expected home for the funeral, which occurred this afternoon at two o'clock from the family residence.

Joseph Harris Oller was born in Columbus, Ohio, April 10, 1853. When eight years of age, with his parents, moved to Hancock, Illinois where they resided until he was seventeen years of age when he moved to Lucas county, Iowa.
He was married to Sarah A. Kennedy, July 25, 1875. To this union were born eight children. He leaves to mourn his loss, a loving wife, two brothers, two sisters and eight children: Mrs. E. Fenimore, Neosho, Missouri; Mrs. F. A. Holmes, Mrs. J. P. Carter, John J. Oller, of Winterset, J. Earl Oller, of West Side, Iowa; Mrs. S. W. Delahunty and Mrs. A. Koenigsberger, both of Des Moines; Corp. Lee Oller, of Camp Pike, Arkansas, and twenty-one grandchildren.
He was a life member of the Christian Union Church of Christ. All that loving hands and hearts could do to relieve his patient suffering was done but to no avail. He departed this life at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 1918, at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 3 days. Interment at Rock City cemetery.
