The funeral of Joe Davis took place from his residence at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon and was largely attended.

Joseph Daniel Davis was born in Venango county, Pa., June 20th, 1835, died at his home in Patterson, Iowa, February 3d, 1904. Mr. Davis spent his boyhood in western Pennsylvania and was married at Brairsville, Penn., March 6th, 1856 to Jane Konkle, who with four children are left to mourn the loss of a kind indulgent father and loving companion. At the breaking out of the Civil war in 1861, he enlisted in the service of his country and gave his services in her defense for over four years.

In Feb. 1867 he with his family moved to Des Moines, Ia. And soon after came to Madison county where he has since resided. Funeral services were held from the M. E. church of which the deceased was a member, on Feb. 5th conducted by Rev. J. H. White of the Winterset U. P. church and the burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery.
