John Rehard Jr. died at his home in Douglas township Wednesday afternoon after an illness of several weeks. The funeral will take place at the Oak Grove church Friday and the remains will be interred in the Walker cemetery.

Just as we go to press we learn of the death of John Rehard, Jr., of Douglas township. The deceased has been a sufferer from heart ailment of long standing, but we are unable to give further particulars of his death at this time.

Obituary

John W. Rehard was born in Coshocton county, Ohio on June 21, 1851. With his father’s family he came to Madison county in 1866.

He was married to Laura Elizabeth Smith in 1880 and to this union were born eight children, six boys and two girls all of whom with the mother survive the deceased.

He moved to Nebraska in 1891 and after several other changes of residence he returned in 1902 to his present home, where he lived till his death which occurred on January 20, 1904.

Mr. Rehard has been in poor health for a number of years and was suffering from complication of ailments the immediate cause of his death being heart failure.

The funeral service was held at the Oak Grove church conducted by Rev. O. M. Yaggy, the body being afterwards interred at the Walker cemetery.

Mr. Rehard was recently converted and left the testimony that he was trusting God for salvation. We truly grieve for the departed yet we sorrow not for those without hope. May the Heavenly Father comfort the bereaved.
