Death of REV. FRED HARRIS
Former Pastor of Winterset M. E. Church

Rev. Fred Harris, who was pastor of the M. E. church of Winterset for years during the nineties, died at Indianola last Friday.

He was well and favorably known in Masonic and Grand Army circles. He was chaplain of the Iowa department of the G.A.R. for some time, and for over fifty years a pastor of some of the leading congregations of southern Iowa.

His funeral was held at Indianola last Sunday, attended by the older preachers of this district and many Winterset people who drove over in the afternoon. The burial was at Norwalk, where some of Mr. Harris' family were buried during his pastorate there.

He was 81 years old at the time of his death and had been ill since last July.
