Lewis W. Stifel was born September 25, 1883 in Clarke county, Iowa, died at the Northern Pacific Hospital at Glendive, Montana, August 24, 1919, aged thirty five years and eleven months.
His mother, Emma Lyons Stifel died when he was but six years of age. He lived his entire life at the old Stifel home three miles east of Barney, with the exception of the past three years. He went to Forsythe, Montana in the hopes that his health might be better but took suddenly ill August 22d and passed to his eternal rest Sunday, August 24th.
He was in the train inspection service at Forsythe and it is to that company that the relatives here are truly thankful for what they did to make his last hours easier.
He leaves his father, Will Stifel, and three brothers, beside other relatives and hosts of friends.
Burial was at Union cemetery, Clarke county, Iowa, by the side of his mother. Services being conducted by G. E. Nichols.
