Mrs. T. H. Stoneman, a life-long resident of Madison county, died at the home of her son, William Stoneman, near St. Charles on September 12, 1935. Mrs. Stoneman was 75 years of age. She had been confined to her bed for the past two years.
Ms. Stoneman was the former Sarah E. Moore. She was born in Madison county, November 3, 1859, the daughter of John and Margaret Moore. On September 20, 1891, she was married to T. H. Stoneman. They were the parents of one son, William. Her husband died in 1921.
Early in life Mrs. Stoneman had united with the church. After her marriage she placed her membership with the Methodist church of Truro.
In addition to her son, she is survived by two foster children, O H. Stoneman of Truro, and Mrs. Brady Spencer of Peru; two sisters, Mary Silliman of Winterset, and Mrs. Lilah Rhodes of Opportunity, Washington; and a number of grandchildren and foster grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Kale funeral home at Truro in charge of the Rev. O. V. Rector. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.

Sarrah (Sarah) E. Moore, daughter of Jehu and Margaret Moore, was born in Madison county, Iowa, November 3, 1859, and departed this life at the home of her son, William, near St. Charles, Iowa, September 12, 1935, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 9 days.
On September 20, 1891, she was united in marriage to T. H. Stoneman. To this union one son, William was born. Early in life she professed faith in Christ and united with the church. After her marriage she placed her church membership with her husband in the M. E. church at Truro.
In September, 1920, the companion heard the call and passed to his reward.
She believed the words of Christ when he said “As ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me.” No home was too humble for her to enter or night too cold and dark for her to go if a helping hand was needed.
For the past two years, she has been confined to her bed. She stayed for seven months at the home of her step-daughter, Mrs. Brady Spencer, of Peru, and the remainder of the time she was cared for in the home of her son, William Stoneman, of St. Charles.
She leaves to mourn their loss, the son, William, two step-children, O. H. Stoneman, of Truro and Mrs. Brady Spencer of Peru, two sisters Mary Silliman of Winterset, and Lilah Rhodes of Opportunity, Washington, one grand-child, four step-grand-children, twelve nephews and nieces, and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted at Kale’s funeral home in Truro, Rev. O. V. Rector, pastor of the Christian church, in charge, Friday. Interment was made in Peru.
