Page 1FARMER DIES UNDER TRACTOR
Bernard Bennett Killed at His Farm Southwest Of Macksburg
Bernard L. Bennett, aged 58 was killed last Friday afternoon under the wheel of his tractor at his farm house southwest of Macksburg.
Bennett was run over by his tractor, while he was working on it in his machine shed. His death was investigated by Deputy Sheriff Lawrence Hooper and Coroner Paul Eggleston. They said Bennett appeared to have been working on the machine, in the shed, when it started to move. One of the large wheels knocked him down and ran up on his body. At the same time, the tractor hit the wall of the shed, and that killed the engine. The heavy vehicle stopped with the large wheel on Bennett’s body crushing him to death.
His body was found about a half hour later by his wife.
Bennett lives five miles southwest of Macksburg, on the Madison Adair county line.
