GEORGE WEEKS

George Weeks passed away at the Clarinda hospital at the age of 82 years. Mr. Weeks was a former resident of Monroe township and for the past two years has made his home with his sister, Mrs. Jacob Pope of Webster township.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday from the Fellowship church by Rev. A. R. Weed of Orient. Interment was in the Hamblin cemetery.

George F. Weeks, son of George Washington and Lovina Weeks, was born March 9, 1842 in Warren county, Illinois, and died May 4, 1924, aged 82 years, 1 month and 25 days.

He came with his parents to Iowa at the age of 17 years, and a few years later returned to Illinois and was married to Almyra Jeffers, September 3, 1863, near Galesburg, who died July 13, 1883. To this marriage there were born fourteen children, four of whom died in infancy. The living children are: Mary Dimock, Charles and Weston Weeks, of Colorado; Frank of Fullerton, Nebr.; Lydia Pope of Wisconsin; Clara Smith, Elbert Weeks, Almyra Pope and Minnie Grabiel of Madison county. One son, Spencer, died in December, 1922. He was married to Margaret Likens, June 28, 1885, who died Jan. 24, 1901. He was the last of a family of nine children to depart this life.

Besides his children, he leaves 24 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted May 7th at Fellowship church by Rev. A. R. Weed. Burial was in the Hamblin cemetery.
