Death of A. F. HILLS

Alfred Francis Hills died at his home in Winterset on Feb. 25, 1922, after twenty years of suffering.

His parents, A. D. and Susannah Hills, came to Madison county in 1853 from Pike county, Illinois. In 1877 he married Mary Reigle, who, with two children, preceded him in death. He married Mrs. Tabitha Eggleston in 1902 and made a home for his seven stepchildren. His wife, his two daughters, Mrs. Nellie McHaley of Prairie City, Ore., and Mrs. Susan Halloran, of Oklahoma City, survive; also a sister, Mrs. Charity Quintel of Oklahoma City and one brother, Leonard Hills of Winterset, four grandchildren, seven stepchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home on Monday, conducted by Rev. George D. Rogers, with interment in Rock City cemetery.

Alfred Francis Hills

Alfred Francis Hills, eldest son of A. D. Hills and Susannah Beall Hills was born in Pike county, Illinois, April 28, 1849, and passed away at it his home in Winterset, Iowa, February 25, 1922, aged 72 years. He came with his parents to Madison county in 1853. He was converted and baptized in the Baptist church at the age of 12 years.

He was married to Mary M. Reigle September 2, 1877. To this union were born four children, Nellie M., Susan E., Blanche H., and Leo H. Blanche and Leo together with the wife and mother proceeded him to the home beyond. He was married again to Mrs. Tabatha Eggleston October 22, 1902.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Nellie N. McHaley of Prairie City, Oregon and Mrs. Susan E. Holloran of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one sister Mrs. Charity Quintet, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and one brother Leonard H. Hills of Winterset.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday, February 27, conducted by Rev. Rogers of the Baptist church with interment in the Rock City Cemetery.
