Leonard W. Wayne Huffman, 55, died at his home in rural Winterset Saturday, August 10, 1978. He was born August 23, 1922, in Calloway, Neb. He was the son of Jesse and Ollie Huffman.
Funeral services were conducted Monday August 21 at 2 p.m. from Union Park Christian Church, Rev. Frazier Thomas and Rev. Don Cramblit officiating. Masonic services were observed by Dwight Hunnell. Burial was made at the South Lawn Cemetery in Seymour, Iowa.
Mr. Huffman was married to Wilda Carolyn Allen on April 5, 1944 at Park Avenue Christian Church in Des Moines. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the 104th Infantry Division as a decorated intelligence scout. He was retired from the John Deere company after 27 years of work as operating engineer and security guard. He also served as labor steward.
Mr. Huffman was active as a Scout leader. He was a member of the East Gate Masonic Lodge, Ascalon Cahpter 139 R.A.M. and Alpha Council No. 1 R.P. and S.M. in Des Moines and transferred to Evening Star Lodge No. 43 AF and AM in Winterset. He was also a member of the Eastern Star No. 180 and served as Worthy Patron in 1975.
Survivors include his wife, Wilda; a son, Jerry Wayne; a daughter, Rebecca Ann Parrino; five grandchildren; one brother, Lee; three sisters, Violet McCarty, Pat Taylor and Lorraine Holmes; and his mother. He was preceded in death by his father, an infant son, Dennis K. Huffman and a brother, Fred Huffman.
