Marie McFarlin of Winterset Care Center North died Sunday April 22 at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the United Methodist Church in Dexter. Burial was at the Dexter Cemetery.
Born on May 24, 1906 in Earlham, she was the daughter of Scryus and Catherine Moreland. She married Harold J. McFarlin on Feb. 2, 1927; he preceded her in death in 1968.
Mrs. McFarlin lived in the Earlham and Dexter areas most of her life. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth of Oxon Hill, Md.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Thursday, May 3, 1984Marie McFarlin was born in Earlham, Iowa on May 24, 1906 to Scyrus C. and Catherine E. Moreland. She passed away at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset, Iowa on April 22, 1984.
Marie graduated from Earlham High School and was married to Harold J. McFarlin, of Dexter, on February 2, 1927. She was a life-long member of the Earlham-Dexter area and remained in Dexter after Harold’s passing on October 16, 1968.
She is survived by her son Kenneth; four grandchildren, Jacquelyn Minnick, of Arlington, Virginia, Bradley McFarlin, of Waldorf, Maryland, Pamela Rauch, of San Diego, California, and John McFarlin, of Silver Spring, Maryland; and two great grandchildren, Lindsey Minnick and Adam McFarlin.
Rev. Robert Farr officiated at the funeral service on April 25, 1984 at the United Methodist Church, Dexter, Iowa. Robert Lawson provided organ music. Honorary pallbearer was James Adkins. Pallbearers were Richard Adkins, Arvid Love, Dean Schirm, Arnold Schirm, Eddie Love and Lloyd Hadley.
Interment was in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa.
