HAROLD MCFARLIN OF DEXTER DIES

Harold J. McFarlin, a long-time employee at the post office in Dexter, died last Wednesday at the Dexter hospital. He was 64 years of age.

Mr. McFarlin was born in Penn township, Aug. 4, 1904, a son of Charles and Mary Jane McFarlin. His life was spent in the Dexter community except for nine years in Des Moines.

He served in the U. S. navy from 1922 to 1926, and during World War II served in the U. S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945.

Mr. McFarlin joined the Penn Center Methodist church later transferring to the Methodist church in Dexter.

He was a past worshipful master of the Dexter Masonic lodge, past commander of the Americam Legion post there and for 19 years a member of the National Rural Mail Carriers association.

He was married Feb. 2, 1927 to Marie Moreland, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Kenneth McFarlin; four grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Harry Algreen of Dexter, Mrs. Frank Lowden of Winterset, Mrs. Alyce Butler of Colfax, Mrs. Vianna Strabler of Sinclair, Wyo.; and a brother, Lloyd McFarlin of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Dexter Methodist church with burial in the Dexter cemetery.
