Death of Ed McCoy

Edward L. McCoy, 81, son of Robert Henry and Minnie Dusher McCoy was born in Chana, Illinois on Feb. 5, 1896 and died Jan. 9, 1978 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

His marriage to Ruth Cotton took place on June 14, 1923.

He was a former resident of Madison County. He farmed several around Dawson and Perry, Iowa before taking a job in the U. S. Department of Justice in Pennsylvania and Terre Haute, Indiana, from which he retired in 1955. During his retirement years he lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas, Dexter and Perry, Iowa.

Mr. McCoy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Perry, Ia., Masonic Lodge No. 299, the Fealty Chapter No. 395 O.E.S., Dexter and the Consistory of Des Moines, Ia. He was a member of the American Legion of Perry and a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, a son, Robert A. McCoy of Lewisburg, Pa., a daughter Josephine Hacker of North Glenn, Colo., five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Winifred.

Masonic rites were held Thursday, Jan. 12 with funeral services Friday Jan. 13 from Timeon Funeral Home in Perry, Rev. Leon Lebuda officiating. Burial was at the Richland Cemetery, Jamaica, Iowa.
