OBITUARY

Nancy Ledlie, daughter of Isaac and Maria King, was born December 4th, 1849 in Clinton county, Ohio. On Sunday afternoon January 27, 1935 her gentle and beautiful spirit passed over to her Heavenly home, to meet the loved and devoted husband and the two infant daughters, who had gone on before and were waiting to welcome her on the other shore.

When only three years of age, her parents moved from Ohio to Dallas county, Iowa, and settled on a farm four miles north of Adel. And it was here she grew to womanhood. She came to Earlham in 1880 and engaged in the millinery business for several months.

On April 7, 1881 she was united in marriage to Joseph Ledlie and with the exception of four years spent in New Mexico, their home has always been here in Earlham. Four children came to bless this home. Those living are William and Chester, both of Earlham. The two daughters passing away in infancy.

Mother Ledlie, as her friends lovingly called her, united with the Presbyterian church soon after coming to Earlham. And as long as her health permitted she was an active and faithful worker in the different church organizations. She was a teacher in the primary department of the Sunday school for some time. While faithful and loyal to her own family, she was never too busy to minister to the sick and needy. Her cheerful personality and her fine Christian character made for her many friends who will miss her from our midst.

Mother Ledlie has been in failing health for several months. On April 7, 1934 she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never fully recovered and was bedfast from that time. Her son Chester and family have lived in the home with her since the passing of her husband on June 6, 1927. And they have faithfully cared for her through her long illness.

Besides the two sons, she leaves to mourn her loss, one brother of Platte, South Dakota. Four grandchildren-sever nieces and nephews and a host of good friends.
