On last Thursday evening as the shades of night were falling, the spirit of Uncle John Sindlinger took flight to the great unknown world from whence no traveler returns. He had been in failing health for many months and his death was not unexpected.

Funeral service was held in the (unreadable). A host of relatives and friends were present to tribute to his memory and burial was in Earlham cemetery.

John Sindlinger was born in Pennsylvania June 3, 1827 and departed this life January 30, 1908. When almost 12 years of age he moved with his parents to Cincinnati, Ohio, but in the fifties he came to Hagerstown, Wayne County, Ind.

Mr. Sindlinger and Miss Maria Wright were married May 25, 1859. To his union one daughter was born, Luella C., who departed this life September 11, 1898.

Mr. and Mrs. Sindlinger lived in Hagerstown, Ind., until 1872, when they moved to Earlham, Iowa, where they lived until he was called away. After coming to Earlham he kept the meat market for several years, and for about twenty years, he followed the occupation of stock buyer. In October, 1864, Mr. Sindlinger enlisted in the civil war and served until the close of the rebellion.

He leaves to mourn his loss his companion in joy and sorrow of nearly fifty years.

Uncle John, as Mr. Sindlinger was familiarly called, will be greatly missed by all, but most by his widow who has been his life long companion.
