Earlham Echo-Earlham, Iowa
June 8, 1899

Earlham, in the death of Mrs. C. B. Johnson, has sustained a loss which brings sadness to every heart in the many homes in which she was known and loved. She was reared here in our midst and from early childhood endeared herself to all by her cheery words and generous nature. She was a true believer in all good works, and gave liberally of her time and means to the advancement of the temporal and spiritual welfare of her fellow creatures. A noble life has gone out from among us which will be greatly missed by all, and especially in that home where she was loved so well.

The large attendance at her funeral attested the estimation in which she was held. The writer of this would desire nothing better to be said of him by his friends when he shall have "passed to the beyond" than that "he was a good man". That to our mind is the greatest tribute that can be paid to one. And it can be truly said that Laura Hill Johnson was a "good woman."
