Wednesday, April 1, 1970PAT CLINE DIES AGED 78 YEARS
Patrick Cline of near Winterset, a well-known resident of this community during most of his life, died Wednesday, March 25, at Memorial hospital here. He was 78 years of age.
Mr. Cline was born in Harrison county April 29, 1891, a son of Fielding W. and Emma F. Bottles Cline. He came to Madison county as a young man, and operated an automotive repair shop here for many years.
He served on the Winterset city council from 1933 to 1939. He was appointed in 1939 as the first superintendent of the city's water treatment plant on Cedar lake, serving in that capacity until 1944. In recent years he had engaged in farming near Winterset.
Mr. Cline was a veteran of World War I, and a member of Green-Rogers post, American Legion, and of the local post of World War I Veterans. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset.
He was married June 25, 1919, to Myrtle F. Seiler of Lincoln township. Her death occurred in 1964.
Surviving are eight children, Ralph E. Cline of Winterset, Mrs. Frank Junkin of Earlham, Glenn V. Cline and Gaile E. Cline of Winterset, Mrs. Donald Jordan of Peru, Murray N. Cline and Mrs. Ralph Feldman of Winterset, and Mrs. Donald Rieck of Cedar Falls. He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Clella Lewis of Neosho, Mo., Mrs. Arbel Wilson of Madrid, Mrs. Ora Williams of Madrid, and Mrs. Nora Gaekle of California; in addition to 27 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday from the First United Presbyterian church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor the Rev. John E. Fink. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
