OBITUARY

Elizabeth, wife of Rev. H. H. Badley, deceased at her home in Grand River township, Madison county, Iowa, Aug. 18, 1884.

Mrs. Badley, formerly Mrs. Phillip Osborn, came to her home in 1856, and has been a resident of the county ever since. She was born in Highland Co., Ohio, Dec. 29, 1831, and was nearly 53 years old at her death. She came to Iowa in 1855, was in Winterset in 1856 and married to Phillip Osborn in 1858.

She was converted one year or more previous to her marriage, and united with the M. E. Church at that time. Has been a faithful and exemplary member ever since. Her house was for years a preaching place, and many of the traveling and local preachers have found a good home at Phillip, and afterwards at the widow, Osborn's.

Her husband fell in the army, one of Madison county's noble heroes. A few years after she married Rev. H. H. Badley, with whom in sweetest harmony she lived nearly 19 years. She has been a patient sufferer for many years, with rheumatism, which eventually went to and affected her heart, and of heart disease she died. All the two months of her last suffering she seemed to think her end was nigh, and when it came she fairly shouted victory in death's face, lisping precious Jesus to the last.
