ESSIE MABEL MOORE

Essie Mabel, daughter of Elizabeth and George Leeper, was born on June 25, 1878 in Madison County, Iowa. She passed away October 23, 1968 at the Dexter Clinic. Since August 1966, she lived at the Maple Lin Manor nursing home in Earlham.

Essie was married to William Ross Moore on December 20, 1899. To this union were born two sons, George of Aurora, Ohio, and Harold of Yucca Valley, California, and one daughter, Mabel Moore of Highland Park, Illinois. There are four grandchildren, John, Craig, Barry and Robin Moore. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. O. C. Maulby of Chicago, Illinois.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Eldora Knight and four brothers: Frank, Harry, Fred and Ray.

She joined the Penn Center church at an early age. After her marriage, she transferred her membership to the Dexter Methodist Church. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years. She always looked forward to the monthly meetings of the Happy Hour Club. On May 28, 1965 she read the following poem at one of their meetings, which typified her life in Dexter, a place she dearly loved:
