CARROLL BEVERLIN, Winterset

Carroll Omer Beverlin, 100, died Sept. 7, 2007, at Country Haven Guest Home in rural Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with Pastor Kevin Smith officiating. Masonic services were conducted by Evening Star Lodge 43, A.F. & A.M. Burial was at Peru Cemetery.

Carroll Beverlin was born Jan. 16, 1907, to Omer Perry and Penelope Kate (Clark) Beverlin of Peru and received his education in a country school and at East Peru School. His marriage to Irene Emerson took place Dec. 10, 1929, near Peru. Carroll and his wife lived on a farm in rural Peru until 1948, when they built a house in Winterset. In March 1955, they returned to the farm in rural Peru. Carroll retired from farming in 1976 and spent his time refinishing antique furniture. In addition to farming, Carroll spent 35 years as a substitute mail carrier. He also served on the Power Board of Southwest Federated in Creston for 17 years and Farmers Electric in Greenfield for 21 years. He was a member of Evening Star Lodge 43, A.F. & A.M., Winterset Chapter 180 O.E.S., Winterset Rotary Club, and the United Methodist churches of Winterset and Peru.

He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers — Corwin, Dale, Bob, and Ernest Clark (Jim); and four sisters — Lorene, Lois, Reva, and Bernice.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol Ann Cobbs of Truro, Sandra Wallace of Cape Coral, Fla., and Jill Cameron of Fargo, N.D.; and seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a tribute to be decided at a later date.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
