FORREST JORDAN DIES AT 92 YEARS

Forrest Jordan of Winterset, retired farmer and a resident of Madison county for 87 years, died Monday, July 6, at Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. He was 92 years of age.

Mr. Jordan was a native of Adair county, where he was born March 26, 1878, a son of John R. and Sarah Reed Jordan. The family moved to Madison county when he was 5 years of age.

He was married July 11, 1917 to Daisy Neely, who preceded him in death. In 1945 he was married to Clara Myers. She also preceded him in death.

Mr. Jordan was a member of the United Methodist church.

He is survived by three sons, Lee Jordan of Winterset, Donald Jordan of Peru, and Ralph Jordan of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Altenbern of Dubuque, and Mrs. Treva Patterson of Winterset; 15 grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Ressie Willoughby of Gilbert, Mrs. Dessie Pope of El Monte, Calif., and Zetta Jordan of El Monte. One son, Ward Jordan, preceded him in death in 1943.

Funeral services were held Thursday from the First United Methodist church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
