STEWART BEK DIES AT 59 YEARS

Stewart Bek, a native of Jackson township who rose to a top executive position in one of the nation's largest financial firms, died Sunday, July 19, at Upper Mont Clair, N.J. He was 59 years of age.

Mr. Bek was born in Jackson township, Aug. 17, 1910, a son of John C. and Floss Bek. His early life was spent in this community, and he graduated from Winterset High school with the class of 1927. He attended Iowa State university in Ames and graduated from Washburn college in Kansas.

Since his graduation from college he had been associated with the General Motors Acceptance corporation, and a few years ago was made general manager for the eastern area of the United States, with offices in New York City.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Lynne Gable of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Barbara Adams of St. Louis, Mo.; one grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Marguerite Zendzian of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Mrs. Lora Willcox of Earlham.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at Bloomfield, N.J., with burial at Miami, Fla.
