The death of Benjamin Ludlow, at his home four miles southwest of Winterset on Feb. 7 (1857) was reported in this issue. He was about 50 years of age (b. Nov. 1, 1805 in Ohio), and death was caused by consumption. He left a wife and three children.

(married the former Rachel Adkinson; buried in Winterset cemetery.)
