DEAN HUFFMAN, WINTERSET

Dean E. Huffman, 88, of Winterset died February 27, 2007. Dean's ashes will be interred at Wight Cemetery (west of Roseman Bridge); on Saturday, September 1, at 1 p.m. All who knew Dean are invited to attend.

Dean E. Huffman was born February 27, 1919. He was the second son of Everett and Pearl Huffman of Winterset. Dean was born and raised in Madison County near the Roseman Covered Bridge.

Dean enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the outbreak of WWII. Based out of San Diego, Calif., he spent most of the war in the Pacific. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Dean and his wife Lola settled in Eugene, Ore. to raise their sons. Dean farmed south of Macksburg for a number of years before settling into his foremost interest and love of raising cattle. His top quality calves were well known and sought after by buyers from Oklahoma and Texas.

Dean is survived by sons Michael D. Huffman of Hartville, Mo., and Gary W. Huffman of Central City, Co.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by two brothers, and wife Lola.
