HENRY TOMES DIES AT 46 YEARS OF AGE

Henry L. Tomes of St. Charles died Saturday, July 26 at a hospital in Des Moines, after a brief illness. He was 46 years of age.

Mr. Tomes had lived at St. Charles since 1947. He was a native of North Dakota, where he was born April 14, 1923, a son of Henry H. and Bina Booth Tomes. He was married Sept. 7, 1947 at Des Moines to Elfriede Schultze, who survives him.

During his residence in Madison county he had engaged in farming. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at St. Charles and Gripp-Williamson post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at St. Charles. He was also a member of the St. Charles Presbyterian church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Ronald, Kenneth, Jackie and Steven, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tomes, Sr. of Norwalk; five sisters, Mrs. Tressa Burke, Mrs. Sadie Foster and Mrs. Anah Gilland of Des Moines, Mrs. Joyce Daniels of St. Charles and Mrs. Joan Wadley of St. Marys.

Funeral services were held Monday from the St. Charles United Presbyterian church conducted by the pastor the Rev. Arthur Eady. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
