WALTER L. McDOWELL OF WINTERSET DIES

Walter Lee McDowell of Winterset died at Memorial hospital here Saturday, Sept. 19. He was 87 years of age.

Mr. McDowell was born in Iowa on Sept. 28, 1882, and had lived in Winterset the last two years. He engaged in the grocery business during his active years. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dora McDowell of Winterset, a son, Chester R. McDowell of Casper, Wyo.; a step-daughter, Ellen Sumner of Des Moines; and a brother, Temp McDowell of Omaha.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the First United Methodist church in Winterset by the pastor, the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
