Funeral services for Donald C. Travis, a life-time resident of Madison county and active farm leader for many years, were held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 6, from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset.
Mr. Travis died Saturday, Oct. 3. He was 67 years of age.
A son of Thomas H. and Eliza Alice Bird Travis, he was born Dec. 2, 1902 at Peru, Iowa. He was married to Beulah Maxine Satterlee on March 17, 1929 at Peru.
Mr. Travis farmed near Peru from 1929 to 1951. He served as chairman of the Madison County A.A.A. for 10 years, and was a district soil conservation director for two years.
From 1953 to 1967 he was secretary-treasurer of the Farmers Mutual Insurance association, with offices in Winterset.
He was a member of the Methodist church, and was also active in the Sportsmen's Club.
He is survived by his wife; two children, Larry K. Travis of San Antonio, Texas and Shirley (Mrs. John O. Means) of Norwalk, Iowa; four grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Travis and Elwood Travis, both of Winterset.
Officiating at the service Tuesday afternoon was the Rev. Earl Swigart of Norwalk. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
