Wednesday, October 7, 1970MARY J. HARRELL DIES IN CRASH
Mrs. Mary Jane Harrell of near Winterset was killed last Thursday, Oct. 1, when the car in which she was riding was involved in a highway collision in Decatur county, south of Lamoni, near the Missouri state line.
Mrs. Harrell, who was 78 years of age, had been a Madison county resident for 50 years. She was the former Mary Jane Tribby, daughter of William and Emily Critten Tribby, and was born at Adonis, Mo., on June 8, 1892.
As a young woman she was married, in August, 1912, at Jamesport, Mo., to LeRoi Henson. Her second marriage, on Oct. 15, 1922, was to Cleveland Harrell of this community. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Zion Federated church, and was affiliated with the Scott Township Community circle, the Zion Ladies Aid, the Metallic club, and other groups.
She was employed for four years with Earlham Care.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Wilmer R. Henson and James A. Harrell. surviving are two sons, Edwin J. Henson of Omaha and Lewis W. Harrell of New Providence, Iowa; and a daughter, Mrs. Callie Jamison of Winterset. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Truman Tribby of Jamesport, Mo.; and two sisters, Mrs. James Long of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. James Hazen of Venice, Calif.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Grace Baptist church in Winterset, conducted by John Safford, and the pastor, the Rev. Glen Williams. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
