Wednesday, September 30, 1970LEWIS THOMPSON DIES AT 84 YEARS
Lewis W. Thompson died at his home in Winterset Sunday, Sept. 27. He was 84 years of age.
Mr. Thompson was a native of Payson, Ill., but had lived in this community the last 20 years. He was employed as a blacksmith at the Truckenbrod Machine shop.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Thompson was married in Des Moines Aug. 10, 1946, to Josephine L. Woodward, who survives him. He also leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Jo Roberts of Des Moines; a step-son, Jerry L. Woodward of Maryville, Mo.; and a sister, Mrs. Etha M. Lewis of Corpus Christi, Tex.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with military ritual at the grave-side by Green Rogers post of the American Legion.
