March 1925C. M. SMITH
Chas. Marion Smith, the only son of Elijah and Melvina Smith was born in Madison County, April 10, 1885, and died at his home near Lorimor, Iowa, March 18, 1925 at the age of 39 years 10 months and 29 days.
On September 19, 1906 he was united in marriage to Viva Gertrude Neely and to this union was born six children, all of whom survive him except one little daughter, Olive who preceded him in death.
Early in his youth, he accepted the invitation of his Saviour and became a member of the Methodist church at Kasson, Iowa and lived in that faith until the last. He always found so much comfort in the Lord's Prayer and the 23rd Psalm, "Though I walk through the valley and shadow of death I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me", and often repeated it to his family. He was a kind and loving husband and father and ever ready to lend a helping hand.
He leaves to mourn his departure a wife and five children, four sons, Floyd, Dale, Stanley and Wesley and one daughter, Helen and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held on Friday by Rev. E. F. Thompson of Lorimor and interment was made in the cemetery at Fellowship.
