THE DEAD

Another name is added to the long list of early settlers who have, in so comparatively a recent period, been called hence--White, Smith, Compton, Pursel, McCarty, Connoran, and now Nathan Williams.

Mr. Williams died on Thursday, the 8th, after an illness of several months.

He was a native of Delaware, was born in the year 1800, and was 79 years of age. Mr. Williams moved from Schuykill county, Pennsylvania, to Winterset in 1856. His wife died in 1867. In 1871 he again married.

Mr. Williams leaves a widow and five children surviving him. The children are Nathan Williams, J. D. Williams, Miss Elizabeth Williams, Mrs. Sarah Bruett and C. P. R. Williams.

The writer of his article has known the deceased ever since 1849--thirty years, and he bears testimony to the possession by Mr. Williams of many excellent traits of character. He was a kind hearted, industrious man, warm in his friendships, sympathetic to the poor or suffering, and an honest man.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
