MARY CLINE SERVICES AT DEXTER THURSDAY

Rites Held For County's First 1939 Car Crash Victim

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Cline, 88-year-old victim of the automobile collision northeast of Winterset a week ago Sunday, were held from the Methodist church at Dexter last Thursday. Burial was made in the Dexter cemetery.

Mrs. Cline was one of the passengers in the car driven by Clifford Bruett which was involved in a head-on collision with a car driven by Dortha Shannon of Booneville, at the Everett Groth corner in Union township. She received injuries from which she died on Tuesday of last week at the Winterset hospital.

Mrs. Cline was the former Mary Todd Clark, daughter of Joseph and Margaret Clark and was born in Pennsylvania on August 29, 1851. She came to Iowa with the early settlers, living near Penn Center for many years. She was married Dec. 25, 1871 to John L. Cline. They were the parents of three children. After the death of her husband, in 1905, she moved to Dexter, where she had since made her home.

She is survived by the three children, Mrs. DeVona Bruett and Morton E. Cline of near Winterset and Mrs. Gertrude McCleary of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Stull of St. Edwards, Neb. and Mrs. Margaret Tullis of Genoa, Texas; a brother, William V. Clark of Winterset; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren
