CHARLES L. BIRGE DIES AT CHICAGO

Charles L. Birge, 62, a former resident of Creston, died at a hospital in Chicago, Ill., Wednesday. He had been ill since March.

Funeral services will be held at Chicago on Friday. His body will arrive in Creston Saturday morning and will be taken to the Keating and Beemer funeral home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Russell L. Hart, pastor of the Afton Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.

Charles L. Birge was born at Creston, Jan. 12, 1901. He was the son of Sherman and Belle Ritter Birge. He had never married. He graduated from the Creston high school. He moved from Creston to Chicago more than 30 years ago and was employed as an electrical engineer by the Commonwealth Edison Co., in Chicago.

Several cousins, including E. J. Ritter of Afton, survive.
