THE DEATH OF MISS CLARINE PALMER

The death of Miss Clarine Palmer occurred last Saturday morning at half past seven o'clock. She had been ill, and lingering between life and death for some time until about a week ago, when it was thought she would recover; but alast the hopes built up were only for a short duration and were soon to be blasted, and serve only as a fresh and harder blow to the afflicted family. That dreaded disease, typhoid fever, was the disease which carried to loved one from the bosom of a loving family and all admiring community. Many were the sorrowing and ardent friends who followed the remains to the cemetery on last Sunday.

The funeral services were held at the residence of Mr. Palmer on Court Avenue, at half past two o'clock last Sabbath afternoon. In the absence of the family pastor, Rev. Mr. Hughes, of Adel, officiated, and did so in a gentle and reverential manner. The procession from the house to the cemetery was one of the largest ever seen in this city--showing the high regard and esteem in which the deceased was held by the community. Arriving at the cemetery the concourse alighted from their vehicles to have a last look at the casket that held the loved one, which was lowered in the grave and soon hid from all earthly eyes, never more to meet the loving hearts and smiling faces until the last day, when all shall rise. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire population in this their loss of one so valuable to household happiness.

(Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery)
