Death of Mr. L. A. Clark

Mr. Almon Clark came to an end of life's journey at about five-thirty Wednesday morning, his breathing stopping abruptly while his nurse was in another room and his daughter, Mrs. DeGraff asleep in her room. He had been helpless for several months with an incurable kidney complaint, and death came as a relief from his distress. He was 82 years old, having passed his birthday on January 5.

Mr. and Mrs. Clark moved to town to spend their declining years about ten years ago. Before that they had owned a forty-acre farm adjoining the Kenworthy farm, purchasing this place after selling the Clyde Renshaw farm to its present owner seventeen years ago. Before that time the family lived on a farm south of Dexter, where Mr. Clark engaged in stock raising on a large scale and made an unusual success.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Grace DeGraff of Des Moines and Mrs. Mae Monroe of Colfax. Two daughters Emma and Cora preceded Mr. Clark to the heavenly home. His brother, D. J. Clark of the Chicago Stock Exchange died less than a year ago.

A brief funeral service was held at the home this afternoon. Rev. Bock making a few remarks in the presence of a group of relatives and old friends. The body was then taken to Dexter Cemetery for commitment to its last resting place on earth.
