TRURO MAN DIES IN CRASH

Rex Dean Myers, aged 32, of near Truro, was killed early last Thursday morning, Jan. 15, when the car he was driving collided with a truck on Interstate 35 near Des Moines.

The pavement was icy at the time of the accident. Myers was southbound when he apparently lost control of his car, and it was struck by a semi-trailer truck.

Mr. Myers was a life-long resident of the Truro community where he was born Aug. 28, 1937, a son of Gerald and Lillie Goodrich Myers. He was married July 21, 1956, to June Minnick, who survives him.

He was a member of the Christian church at Truro.

In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Rosalee, Allan, Gary and Anita, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Myers of Truro; his grandmothers, Mrs. May Myers and Mrs. Ray Goodrich of Truro; a brother, LeRoy Myers of Truro; and three sisters, Mrs. Phil Clarke, Mrs. Janice Hurd, and Mrs. Robert Willcox, all of Truro.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. Richard Hempenius. Burial was made in the Hartman cemetery.

Truro and community were shocked over the accident which took the life of Rex Myers last week. He leaves a wife and four children besides his parents, brothers and sisters and host of relatives and friends. His funeral was held Saturday.

Rex Dean Myers

Rex Dean Myers, son of Gerald and Lillie Myers was born at Truro, Iowa August 28, 1937 and departed this life January 15, 1970 at the age of 32 years, 4 months and 18 days.

All his life was spent in Madison County where he attended Truro schools and was a member of the Christian Church. He had been employed by the Armstrong Rubber Co. the past 12 years. He was a gentle man—kind and loving.

One July 21, 1956 he was united in marriage to June Minnick at Mercer, Missouri. To this union four children were born, Rosalee, Allan, Gary and Anita, all at home.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Leo Myers and Ray Goodrich, and one uncle, Roy Myers.

In addition to his wife June and four children he leaves to mourn his passing his parents, Gerald and Lillie Myers of Truro; three sisters, Mrs. Phil (Carol) Clarke, Mrs. Janice Hurd and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Willcox, one brother, LeRoy Myers; all of Truro, Iowa; two grandmothers, Mrs. Zilpha Goodrich and Mrs. May Myers; five nieces; four nephews, aunts; uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 17 from Kale Funeral Home in Truro. Rev. Richard Hempenius officiated at the 2 p.m. service with burial in Hartman Cemetery, Truro.

Rex was an honest and good young man. He was a gentle and loving husband and father, a son to be proud of, and a wonderful brother. A friend to everyone. He will be grievously missed by all who knew and loved him.
