ELMO SILVERTHORN DIES AT 86 YEARS

Elmo C. Silverthorn of Winterset, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Madison Manor here. He was 86 years of age.

Mr. Silverthorn was born at Macksburg May 17, 1883, a son of Nicholas and Jane Morley Silverthorn. He was married Nov. 20, 1908, to Edith Pheils. Her death occurred in 1924, and in 1927 he was married to Winifred Short.

During his active life, Mr. Silverthorn did construction work. He attended the Christian church.

He leaves a son, Marvin Silverthorn of Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Gee of Ottumwa, Mrs. Gladys Shaughnessy of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Ritter of Afton; two step-children, Gerald Silverthorn of Marshalltown and Mrs. Frances Dillinger of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Rogers of Arizona; and two brothers, Dan Silverthorn of Winterset and Neil Silverthorn of Lorimor. He also left 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
