Anna Marie Mainard

Anna Marie (Wengert) Mainard, age 65, of Des Moines died at home Friday, July 1 of complications from hemochromatosis.

Anna Marie was born May 21, 1929 to Sara and Frank Wengert in rural Earlham. She attended school in Earlham and graduated valedictorian of the Class of 1946. She then went on to attend Minnesota Bible College. While in Earlham she was an active member of the Church of Christ and sang at many weddings and funerals.

For the past 40 years she had lived in Des Moines with husband Earl Lee Mainard. She was a homemaker and secretary of the Armstrong Tire retirees group.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Lee Mainard of Des Moines; two daughters, Sarah Joanne Diggs of Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Carolyn Dachenbach and husband Larry of Earlham; and grandchildren, Max and Erin Dachenbach of Earlham and Bragina Diggs of Des Moines.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three half-sisters and one half-brother.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 5, at Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines. Rev. Ted Morelock, pastor of the Earlham Church of Christ officiated.
