Wednesday, November 5, 1913MRS. NANCY SPRAGUE - Obituary
Nancy S. Packwood was born June 9, 1840, near New Providence, Ind. and died at her home in Winterset Nov. 2, 1913, age 73 years, four months and 23 days.
With her parents, she moved to Agency, Iowa, about 1849 where she resided until her marriage with Porter B. Sprague on Feb. 17, 1860. With her husband, she moved to Winterset in 1864 which has since been her home.
Four children were born to this union, two dying in infancy and Ernest C. and Blanche B. McCall, survive her, also two grandchildren and one brother and one sister. Her husband died in Winterset, Dec. 31, 1906.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and no one seemed to enjoy their church relationship better than she. The services in God's house were a joy to her, although she was not privileged often to attend. She hath been a helper of many, and many homes will miss her kindly benefactions.
Funeral services were held at the house, Tuesday at two p.m., conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis. Interment was at Rock City cemetery.
