Death Occurs at Memorial Hospital at Age of 69 Years
Arthur B. Smalley of near Winterset died this Wednesday at 12:30 a.m. at Madison county hospital at Winterset, after an extended period of failing health. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past two weeks.
He and Mrs. Smalley (the former Dollie May McConkey) had observed their Golden Wedding day on Nov. 21.
Mr. Smalley was born Oct. 27, 1885 at Imogene, Ia., a son of Albert and Lucy Smalley. He moved to Madison county from Des Moines about 10 years ago.
Mr. Smalley is survived by his wife; and seven children, Bernard and Wendell Smalley at home, Donald Smalley of West Des Moines; Mrs. John Wyatt, Sr. of Winterset, Mildred Biotel of Norwalk, Mrs. Morrell Alleman of Crescent City, Calif., and Mrs. Maurice Hutzell of West Des Moines. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
