Father Mohler is dead. He died at the residence of a son who lives in Marion county, on the 4th, inst. His disease was dropsy of the heart. A truer man, a more noble citizen never lived in Madison county. Peace to his ashes. For the following incidents in his life we are indebted to Mr. Wm. H. Bard, of Douglas:
Rev. Samuel L. Mohler was born in Rockingham county, Virginia, on the 4th of March, 1791. He was nearly 85 years old at death. He lived in Athena county, Ohio, (where he married Margaret Watkins,) until 1852 when he moved to Van Buren county, Iowa. His wife died in 1852. They had eight children, four of whom survive.
In 1854 he married Mrs. Charlotte Harryman. In 1862 he moved to this county.
He was a soldier in the war of 1812. He was a minister in the Methodist church nearly fifty years.
