PHILIP MCCAUGHAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Philip N. McCaughan, a native of Winterset and member of a prominent family here many years ago, died May 13 at Long Beach, Calif., it is reported here. He was 69 years old.

Mr. McCaughan came to Long Beach from Chicago in 1915 and had been prominent in legal, civic and fraternal life in that community.

He was a son of George McCaughan, a Winterset attorney. He graduated in law from Northwestern university in Illinois.

Mr. McCaughan had served as president of the Long Beach Bar association in 1941, was a past president of the board of trustees of the First Congregational church, past chairman of the board of directors of the Long Beach chapter of the American Red Cross and was active in Boy Scout work and the Kiwanis club.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Esther McCaughan.
