Mrs. Montie Kinney of Winterset died at Memorial hospital this Wednesday morning, April 30. She had suffered a stroke a week ago and had been critically ill since that time.
Mrs. Kinney was 63 years of age. A native of Kansas, she had lived at Winterset at intervals since 1938. She was the widow of Charles Kinney who died in 1938.
Near surviving relatives include two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Smith of Waupace, Wisc., and Mrs. Leland Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; and two sons, Donald Kinney of Altoona and Ray Kinney of Truro.
One of her sons, Kenneth Kinney, was serving with the U. S. navy in the Phillipines when World War II broke out and was captured by the Japanese at the fall of Corregidor, later dying in a prison camp.
Funeral services will be held this Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Winterset Church of Christ with burial in the Mitchellville cemetery.
