Elmer Holmes Died Friday at Sacramento

Elmer Holmes, a former resident of Madison county, died last Friday in Sacramento, Calif., it was learned here this week.

Burial will be made here. Funeral services were held in Sacramento Sunday, and the body is scheduled to arrive here this Wednesday. Additional funeral and burial services will be held here the latter part of this week.

Mr. Holmes' mother, Mrs. Captola Holmes of this community, is at present living in a nursing home in Des Moines. He also leaves his wife and daughter.

ELMER HOLMES RITES HELD HERE FRIDAY

Funeral services for Elmer M. Holmes, whose death occurred July 1 at Sacramento, Calif., were held here last Friday from the Richards Funeral home. The Rev. S. C. Picken, pastor of the Winterset United Presbyterian church, conducted the services. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mr. Holmes was born in Madison county March 9, 1887, a son of Jacob and Captola Holmes. His early life was spent in this community. He was married to Lulu Mills in 1908. They moved to Hensler, N. Dak., where he was a merchant and farmer, until moving to California in 1945.

He is survived by his wife; by his mother, Mrs. Captola Holmes of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. Garnett Clark; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
